It’s the Sun, Stupid!
[Comment 55: This statement is inaccurate in several respects: Most of the rise occurred after 1940, and it is untrue that “temperature has fallen for four decades and risen for three” (see Comment 42, page 35). There is a great deal of evidence that carbon dioxide has strongly influenced temperatures in the past (see Comment 50, page 45). And the final sentence in the above statement is a “straw man” argument (see http://tinyurl.com/75l4l), because nobody is claiming that carbon dioxide caused past changes of climate on its own. In fact, a very large number of factors influence the earth’s climate, including:
… all of which are incorporated in the climate models – see: http://tinyurl.com/ 2f8vam; and all of which must be taken into account in any credible scientific discussion of global warming. See also Wikipedia: http://tinyurl.com/yu9kuu. Given such a large number of influences on climate, for the programme to imply that any single influence could possibly on its own correlate with 20th century temperature changes makes it either scientifically illiterate or else intentionally highly misleading.] (In breach of the 2003 Communications Act Section 265, Ofcom 5.4, 5.5, 5.7, 5.11, 5.12) |
